Rainy Weekend

Hey All,

It's been a cool and rainy weekend here. I love a good pot of chicken and dumplings in this kind of weather so yesterday I made up a double batch. Now I heard from the boys... yuck! I'm not eating that! Ok, then don't eat at all was my response. When dinner was finally served guess who ate? Yep, you guessed it they didn't like the fact that I wouldn't give and not make anything else. Tonight we are having leftovers and they have a choice chicken and dumplings or porkchops. You know it they picked the porkchops and I will make them some rice and green beans to go with them. The little munchkin yelled I get the honey mustard sauce. I think there is still plenty so you won't have to fight over it. I have one that eats hot sauce on almost everything. One that eats Heinz 57 on almost everything and the other that eats honey mustard on almost everything.

I've had the kids cleaning up their pigsties. Ok, I really think pigsties are a lot cleaner than their rooms were. One teen I haven't done any laundry for all week and I could open her door and not even see a floor. She has cleaned up and just thrown all the dirty clothes into the hamper. You know I have one of those 3 section hampers and she filled it. Now I've been waiting to hear why none of her clothes haven't been washed. I'm not saying a word until I hear where are my clothes. Once I do then my reply will be I did up laundry yesterday and hadn't planned on doing any today so if you have clothes that need to be washed you know how to work the washer and dryer. It didn't take the boys long to clean up their mess with a little team work. I guess that is one advantage to sharing a room. Oh and lets not forget they have clean clothes they seem to remember where the laundry room is and what a hamper is for.

I've added another author to my favorites. Jennifer Chiaverini she writes The Elm Creek Quilts novels. I came across these a couple months ago and just finished my third book. I have to space these books out because I have a hard time putting them down. So far I've read The Quilter's Apprentice, Round Robin, and The Runaway Quilt. I've also been doing some light reading on herbs. I've tried a few times to have some small pots here in the house and just as they start growing good my cat eats them. Someone said to plant some catnip and he would leave the others alone. No, my spoiled rotten cat doesn't seem to like catnip. But he does love parsley, oregano, and chives. Yep, he's a human want-ta-be! Anyway back to the herbs this week I will be planting (in pots) rosemary, chives, parsley, and cilantro and they will be going out on the deck. Lets see him get out there and eat them! Hmmmm...... maybe I should do the cilantro in here it could teach him a lesson. Ok, I know I'm mean I have 5 kids and 2 stepkids and I hear it quite often from the 3 that are still home. I really want to find some chocolate mint to try but I guess I'll have to order some seeds online because I can't find anyone that carries it around here. Anyone plant herbs? Anyone have any suggestions to keep that darn cat away from them?

It's time to go feed these kids and make sure homework is done.

Take Care :)

Jennifer is one of my favorite authors. I think there is only one of her books I haven't read yet and that's her newest one.

Have you read Debbie MacComber? She is really good too.

I have to agree with you scrappy on Debbie Macomber. I am not the avid reader I should be but I picked up her book "Morning Comes Softly", well, let's just say that I didn't get much housework done that day. I started reading it about 2:30pm and finished it at 1:00am. I couldn't put it down. And I felt like I was let down because the book was over..LOL. I am gonna have to look up more books by her to get my jumpstart back to reading more often.
