Spring Break Over!

And the kids are back in school. Aahhhhhh it has sounded so quiet around here today. Short lived since I have to leave in a few minutes to pick one up. The week was just a glimpse of what summer is going to be like. Only 8 weeks of school left, how is that possible? Didn't they just start the school year, time is going by too quickly.

Jene` had a blast in Hollywood! The choral groups did well at competition they had a couple of first place positions and came in 2nd for overall. They went on a tour of the rich and famous homes and had the experience of shopping, or I should say window shopping on Rodeo Drive. They ate lunch at Pink's and she brought back a menu showing all the different toppings to put on hotdogs. Some of them I just can't imagine putting on a hotdog. Let me give you a few descriptions...

Pastrami Reuben Dog... pastrami, mustard, swiss cheese & sauerkraut

Martha Stewart Dog... 10" stretch dog, relish, onions, bacon, chopped tomatoes, sauerkraut & sour cream

The Today Show Dog... 2 hotdogs in one bun, mustard, onions, chili, cheese & guacamole
Mushroom Swiss Dog... grilled mushrooms, mayo, one slice swiss cheese
The Hollywood Walk of Fame Dog... Topped with yummy coleslaw & chopped tomatoes
Three Dog Night... 3 hotdogs, wrapped in a giant tortilla, 3 slices of cheese, 3 slices bacon, chili & onions

The Ozzy Spicy Dog... Spicy Polish Dog, nacho cheese, american cheese, grilled onions, guacamole & chopped tomatoes

Bacon Burrito Dog... Big flour tortilla wrapped around 2 hotdogs, 2 slices of cheese, 3 slices of bacon, chili & onions

Jene` stuck with the chili cheese dog but she said some of the guys did venture and try something new. They also went to a couple of the beaches but it wasn't a very warm day when they had gone. They went to Idol Gives Back and had a blast her only complaint was they were not permitted to take their cameras in. They spent a day at Disney and followed Ben Stiller around for awhile until they were told to respect his privacy. Someplace along the way the saw PDiddy or is it just Diddy now and followed him around until his body guard told them to move it along. They also toured Paramount Studios and went to the mall. Here are a few pictures of her trip...

Can you tell they had a good time?

The boys and I didn't have all that much to do here at the homestead. We went to the YMCA a couple of days and to the park. The driving range and practiced and went on a nature walk. Dale hung out with his friends and that was about it.

Sorry no pictures of Dale he has this thing now about having his picture taken and says I'm a picture-holic. Everytime he sees me with the camera he will turn his head or put his hand in front of his face. Yep, being a brat! I can say that he's my child.

Now it's back to getting up early and schedules. The next big thing coming up is getting this girl ready for prom and spring concert. I still have two more classes for crochet before this one ends. My afghan is done and I started making a matching pillow but I still need to finish it. I made one panel too big and I'm going to have to take some out.

The basic granny square and there is 34 rounds. Now to finish that pillow!
The weather just can't seem to make up it's mind a few days of nice warm temps and then a drastic change to cold temps. Of course this morning was the coldest it was 33 when we got up at 6:30. Too cold for April! A few days of this and then it's to warm up again. They are also calling for rain in the extended forecast for the weekend. Seems like this is going to be the thing this spring rain on the weekends. I can't complain we do still need more rain to bring the levels up. Last spring we hardly had any rain and not much during the summer or fall and everyone was feeling the effects of the drought by then.
Anyone planting a garden? I would like to and we have tried in the past but we don't get enough sunlight with all these trees. I do plan on trying some herbs again I would like to plant oregano, parsley, garlic chives, basil, chives, and some kinds of mint. I've heard some people talking about chocolate mint and of course these people don't live around here. I haven't found any around here but I did find a place online to order some. I'm going to go looking around this weekend and see what I can find.
Hmmm...that reminds me it's time to start putting out the Snake Away so I need to pick that up also.
Kid Weekend is fast approaching and I need to finish painting the dining room before all the little munchkins come. I will have a 1, 3, 4, 6, and 7 year old for the whole weekend and of course the two teens. The first weekend in May this seems to be a yearly event. It's fun for Colin he loves having all the kids here.
Before I get going I would like to know if anyone has ever had any of the hotdogs listed above or what is your favorite toppings to put on them? Sometime in the near future I plan on having a hotdog party and getting a large variety of things and test them out. You never know unless you try it.
Have a good evening! :)

PS...I've tried 3 times to edit this and I can't seem to get it to work right. See how some of the lines in the hotdog description is single spaced instead of double spaced and then down further into the post all my paragraphs run together. I've tried saving each and every line. I've tried triple spacing those parts. Nothing seems to work. If you know would you please let me know I've noticed it before in other postings and couldn't fix it. But it drives me crazy!
Take Care :)

Just wanted to say "Hi" and thanks for the sweet comments on my blog.

Hollywood=Fun! I went when my kids marched in the Hollywood Christmas parade.

Your crochet is looking good! I haven't crocheted in a while - too busy quilting and sewing!

And...I keep having the same trouble with posting - I just keep saving and editing - what's up with that? Other people have said the same thing!

I agree about the hot dogs, Vickie- I'll just take mine with chili and onions, thank you. (Sour cream on a hot dog? blech.)
By the way, my blog does funny formatting things, too, and I can't get the spaces right. If I ever figure out why it's trying to make us crazy, I'll let you know! LOL

I love your colors, looks like a queen sized, ya know what Vick? My bed is a queen also... LOL
Chuck & I are going to try to replicate the bed you see me on in my blog picture. I fell in love with the logs and rusticity (my made up word of the day) figured it would fit right in with our decor. Our existing bed will go in our guest room along with our new mattress (we cannot sleep on) Sealy just isn't what it used to be. We are discussing getting two twins(mattresses) since we both have different firmness issues. Keep up the excellent work, your crochetting has come a long way Baby!
