What A Night!

Hey All,

There has been only one child home for the past two days. It's been quiet! This evening the little munchkin wanted to watch Wall E so I decided to do a little blog surfing. I hadn't done this in a long time and WOW I came across many that I have added to the sidebar to go back to often. Then I decided to do a little redecorating of my blog and finally after many tries I decided upon what you are seeing now. And now it's late... very late. Or then again you could say it's early... very early. Either way I know in a few short hours I'm going to have someone waking me saying those famous words "Mommy I'm Hungry". Then I will come blurred eyed into the kitchen and make him eggs, turkey sausage, grits, and toast.

I've been getting a head start on making gifts the past couple of days. I have 5 ongoing projects right now. Rice bags... I have cut out 50 of them in different sizes and have a good start on sewing them. These will be put up until around November and then I will pull them out and iron, fill, and stitch up. Magnets... I have 12 sets of 6 made and ready to put up. Now I will be completely honest I'm not exactly happy with these because the round magnets would have looked nicer and neater on these but we have had to cut back so I just used the magnets I had on hand and once they are on the frig you don't see that anyway. Magnet note holders... they are so quick and easy I only have 4 of them done so far and plan on making up at least 12 more. Bag clips... not sure yet if they will be 4 or 5 to a set. And an afghan. Hopefully I can get some of these finished up by the end of the month so I can start some new projects.

I have many things that I want to make this year my list is long. First of all I'm trying to find things to do that I can make from stuff I already have on hand. Then hopefully I will run across other things to use from freecycle, yard sales, and thrift stores. I need some wool sweaters because I really want to make mittens. And I plan on making an afghan of many colors to use up some this leftover yarn. This is the one goal that I have set for the new year make gifts for family and friends.

I made bread bowls the other night but as usual they didn't rise well the second time around. Not sure what is going on all my breads are doing that. But they were good and instead of a nice size bowl they were a big flatter but did hold the beef stew. The kids liked them and have asked that I make them again. I have one left and I'm going to dry that out and make bread crumbs out of it.

It's now 2:00 so I better get to bed! The older kids will be back home in the morning so I need to be somewhat rested before I need to be referee again.

Take Care :)

I'm up late too. I just got home from helping clean the kitchen in the house that my sister just bought. So I thought I would check out blogs. Thanks for visiting! It's great that you have started on gifts already. That's what I need to do - stock pile some so I can just pull something out during the year, but it's still something thoughtfully handmade.
I like you background paper.
Blessings,
Debbie

Fancy background cousin Vicky!
You are way to busy, and have actually planted the rice bag seed on me. I sat at my new machine tonight and made 2 of them. I made the bag seperate thn made like a rice bag sham for it to slip into. That way, if you just so happen to get it soiled, you can still use it, even if your washing it's cover.

Last night, we had spagetti with meat sauce and meatballs with sauce; plus, I made some awesome bread sticks~ I'll have to email you the recipe. Oh, they were good! I think, the key to the bread machine is to get your dough out just after it finishes it's first kneading. Preheat your oven to 200* F once it reaches that temp. turn oven off. Shape it, then set them on your greased baking dish in the oven to rise until doubled in size. Remove from oven, cover with dishtowel, preheat oven again to 350* bake your bread.

Sorry, this is a long comment, hope I don't keep you up all night.

Love ya, Mel
